Our Hero... U.S. Navy Hospitalman Nicholas Tubbs

U.S. Navy Hospitalman Nicholas Tubbs’ reason for joining the US Marines: “I wanted to make a difference, I saw the violence caused by war and knew it was my duty to help. I saw marines getting wounded and killed and could not sit at home while this was happening. I had to be one of the few they called “Doc.”’ He served in Iraq from 2005 to 2009. HN Tubbs has received several awards, including the Purple Heart. He has a young daughter who lives with him part time, and they may soon get a dog. HN Tubbs was referred to Furnishing Hope by his mentor at Military Warrior Support Foundation.


Our Hero... Squad Leader Jason Livingston

Squad Leader Jason Livingston’s reasons for joining the US Army: “I wanted to serve and protect first my family and my country, to protect the freedoms that are taken for granted. I wanted a chance to see and experience the world and go places where few get to go. The army just seems like a home where I fit in and belong.” SSG Livingston served in Baghdad, Iraq from December 2005 to January 2007 and in Logar Province, Afghanistan from February 2010 to October 2010.  In addition, he was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany from April 2009 to June 2012. He has received numerous awards and decorations, including the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat on October 1, 2010. He has a wife and three children who have shared in his struggle brought about by wounds suffered during the war.  SSG Livingston was referred to Furnishing Hope by his mentor at Military Warrior Support Foundation.


Our Hero...Sergeant 1st Class Jimi McMahon

Army Sergeant First Class Jimi McMahon reason for joining the US Army: “I was in NYC when the Towers fell. I lost two good friends that day.” SFC McMahon served in Iraq and in Afghanistan in the period of December 2000 through March 2012. He is a Purple Heart recipient and was referred to Furnishing Hope by his mentor at Military Warrior Support Foundation.


Designer Spotlight…….Carol McMahon

Carol McMahon Interior Design has been creating interiors for businesses and homes for more than 25 years.  Ms. Carol McMahon brings her knowledge of classic style and attention to fine details to create one-of-a-kind home designs. Carol is also a key facet to Furnishing Hope, serving on the board of directors.


Designer Spotlight…….Michelle Prata

Michele Prata is an allied member of A.S.I.D, local affiliate member of W.C.R. of South County, affiliate member of O.C.A.R. and owner of Prata Studio Interiors since 1998. She holds 2 degrees; Bachelor of Art in Art from C.S.U.L.B. & Associate of Art in Interior Design from I.D.I. Michele was a featured designer on HGTV’s Designer’s Challenge in 2003 & Laguna Charm House Tour in 2005. As a talented artist & designer, she has completed residential & commercial interior design projects throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, Desert Communities and the Bay Area. These projects include remodels from concept to completion for kitchen & bath, full service Interior Design & Art Studio. Michelle has also contributed her talents to several projects for Furnishing Hope!
