PLACENTIA – Tears welled up in Jorge Garcia’s eyes as he watched his two-year-old daughter, Faith, dash through their newly furnished apartment.
She bounded onto the linen-colored sofa and climbed atop a dining room chair. She ran to her brand-new white wooden bed and pointed at its matching nightstand. She flung herself onto a magenta bedspread and stared in amazement at colorful decals adorning the walls.
Opposite her bed was a simple white crib for her new baby brother, Isaiah, born Feb. 3.
“The expression on her face was so amazing,” said Garcia, a retired U.S. Army corporal.
Garcia, his wife, Ramona Ivan, and their kids previously had only an old mattress, a taped-up chair and a plastic box holding toys.
